On June 26, 2026, the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) officially opened the Innovator’s Proving Ground. This facility serves as a vital foundation for the ecosystem supporting the Polish Armed Forces in acquiring unmanned weapon systems (UWS) and countermeasures against them.
The project managed by WITU enables early identification, verification, and support of breakthrough technical solutions in defense.
Key Objectives of the New Facility:
- Rapid Testing: Verifying technical parameters in safe conditions without sanction risks.
- Compliance by Design: Integrating legal and regulatory requirements directly into the conceptual phase.
- Accelerated Deployment: Generating test documentation to bypass lengthy administrative procedures.
- Independent Evaluation: Providing reliable parametric pre-selection for external innovator projects.
- OODA Loops Speed: Aligning technology development speed with rapidly changing battlefield threats.
- Dual-Use Support: Guiding decision-makers through the development paths of dual-use technologies.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives from the Polish Armed Forces, academia, industry, and public institutions, offering an excellent opportunity to share experiences and build connections.
This initiative aligns with WITU’s strategic goals to boost innovation and build Poland’s modern defence technology capabilities.
